Writing books with Google Docs

One of the nice things to have available is your writing on any device using the cloud. Google Docs really fits this well and I can juggle my devices around to write.

I have a outline sheet that lists the chapters, word count, target count and synopsis of the chapters and which characters are in it. I made a app script where I can push a button and it auto calculates the word counts. Each Chapter is its own document. This makes organization easier.

With my google doc / "chapters", I wrote another app script that will mute the text in the document, but then unmute the dialog, anything wrapped in smart quotes. This helps me see the flow of talking between characters. Then I can push the button and it reverts back the color changes.

I think when all things are done and its ready for editors, I will take it to libreoffice and go from there. I am not sure yet. :)
